Today we begin the last week of 2010, starting to say good bye to what was a great trading year filled with achievements, surprises, developments and new knowledge. Certainly 2010 will always have a special place in my heart as a very important year for me as a trader and as a person. On today’s post – and through the whole week – I will write a series of posts about what has happened in 2010 and what my perspectives are for 2011 regarding Asirikuy and my personal goals. Within the following paragraphs I will share with you a little bit about what 2010 meant for me as a forex trader and how it marks a dividing line in my career as a trading professional.
At the start of this year I was definitely filled with expectations about what I would do in forex trading and how I would grow my personal trading business. However I never imagined that my hard work would pay off in such a great way with the creation of an extremely marvelous community (Asirikuy) filled with great traders, programmers, scientists, etc.
Ending 2009 I had only a few things to show for (and I thought they were a lot!) with a few systems, a newsletter with a couple dozen members and an ebook which I still think is a great introduction for people to the world of automated trading.
–
Through 2010 I managed to develop many different trading systems (actually more than 10!) managing to go beyond my previous limits with the development of systems for wide baskets of currencies, counter-trending strategies, etc. In Asirikuy – and thanks to the wonderful help of its many members – I managed to develop a much better and in-depth understanding of portfolio trading, getting a glimpse at the large power of diversification and enabling the construction of portfolios with the systems I had previously created.
My personal trading business – from which I derive most of my income – had a quite good year with the achievement of good profit targets on many of the systems I had been trading. Since all systems achieved new equity highs through the year I was able to get another complete year living from trading commissions, a wonderful feat which I hope I can start to share with other Asirikuy members during the following few years. This year showed me that analysis pays off and that understanding what you are doing is absolutely necessary to succeed in this field.
Through 2010 – and with the help of some great programmers at Asirikuy – I was also able to polish my programming skills to a new level, learning a lot about correct technical code development and professional programming tactics. It is thanks to this that we where able to develop a professional framework for Asirikuy systems, a framework which is now shared amongst all Asirikuy strategies.
I could say without a doubt that if 2008-2009 was my first profitable period as a trader from algorithmic trading, 2009-2010 was the period in which I formed myself as a professional. I think that through the past two years – and especially through 2010 – I have developed a very professional mindset around algorithmic trading, something that has been of great help to achieve my goals and to help others – through Asirikuy – achieve theirs.
Another great personal achievement for me was the publication of more than 8 currency trader magazine articles, allowing me to grow my reputation as a trader and enabling me to help other traders through the release of trading strategies and analysis without any cost to them. During next year my goal will be to publish one article every month – we’ll see if I have enough creativity – allowing me to complete at least 22 articles on the magazine overall.
This blog has also evolved greatly this year and I am now very glad I moved it from its previous home at blogpost to its own domain. Through 2010 I have managed to publish one post every day (I thought I could have never done this!) bringing new content to my faithful readers on a daily basis. Certainly writing 365 posts a year isn’t easy but without a doubt this is one of the things that keep my creativity active and the “idea river” flowing.
This year was definitely a milestone year in my life (and hopefully the next will be too!) as it was the year where I created my online dream community (I couldn’t have imagined it better!) , the year in which I had my first forex paid vacation and the year where I developed a mature professional algorithmic trading mindset.
I can only say that I will work as hard as possible to make 2011 much better than this year, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst within the world of automated trading systems. If you would like to know more about my work in automated trading and how you too can be a part of our online automated trading community please consider joining Asirikuy.com, a website filled with educational videos, trading systems, development and a sound, honest and transparent approach to automated trading in general . I hope you enjoyed this crossword ! :o)

Hi Daniel, I’d like to add my congratulations. I’m certainly impressed by your great energy and prodigious output, not least of which was publishing a post here every day for a year. I’ve enjoyed reading them all, and continue to learn a great deal. I really appreciate being part of the ongoing Asirikuy development, and share your enthusiasm for what we can accomplish as a community. Thanks for making it a great year for me as well. I look forward to further adventures in 2011!
